See who doesn't follow you back on Instagram

You follow someone — but do they follow you back? On Instagram it's surprisingly hard to tell, because the app has no "doesn't follow back" list. Here's how to see it, both directions, and why it's worth knowing.

Two lists people mix up

There are really two questions here, and they're not the same:

  • Who do I follow that doesn't follow me back? — the accounts you give attention to without getting anything in return.
  • Who follows me that I don't follow back? — people interested in you that you may have overlooked.

Instagram shows neither directly. You can open your following list and hunt manually, but across a few hundred accounts that quickly becomes impossible — and the list keeps changing.

How to see both lists automatically

WhoDitched.me pulls both your followers and who you follow, and compares them for you. That gives you two clean lists:

  1. Doesn't follow back — the people you follow who don't follow you.
  2. Follows you, not followed back — potential connections you could follow back.

We only use public data and never need your password. Want to clean up? You can open the profile straight in the Instagram app and unfollow with one tap — we never take any action on your account ourselves.

Why it's worth knowing

A follower list full of accounts that don't follow back says little about real reach. Seeing the ratio clearly helps you understand who actually engages — and ghost followers who never do anything drag your average down without you noticing.

It's not about chasing numbers. It's about knowing who's actually there.
